Hello and Welcome!
Hi there! My name is Kat and I am absolutely thrilled that you chose to stop by today. This is my first experience in the blogging world, and I look forward to traveling through this delightful journey with you.
Just as any good friendship begins, I’d to share a bit about myself! I’d also love to hear about you if you’d like to respond in the comments portion. Maybe we share some connections and common interests!
My path to counseling and therapy actually began as an elementary school teacher. I enjoyed spending time with my students and taking an active role in their academic development, but, I knew that there was more that I could do to help my students learn the skills needed to thrive and fully enjoy life. So, I went back to school to earn a master’s degree in counseling. My coursework and placements then led to a new passion-private therapy! I went on to earn my post-master’s certificate in clinical mental health counseling, then a doctorate in education with a counseling specialization.
Currently, I hold three positions in the fields of counseling and education: I am an elementary school counselor based in the Washington D.C. area, a private therapist with a marvelous group practice, and I teach courses in education and counseling for a local university. I love what I do and am infinitely grateful for the experiences that arise with these positions, as each brings with it daily opportunities to learn, grow, and to share new knowledge with others. In fact, my desire to share and to provide others with the tools necessary to be successful (and to feel joyful about their lives, in general) led to this blog!
My goal here is to provide you with simple, practical, and effective tips, tools, and tales from the world of a private therapist and school counselor. I will be sharing information and reflections based on my experiences and the priceless little nuggets of wisdom that come with each. I’d also love to spark conversation with you! I feel like the best learning comes from conversation, so please feel free to share your thoughts and your own nuggets, as well! We are a community of learners here, and your views are important & valuable.
So sit back, get comfortable, and enjoy this journey with me! Cheers!
